You can create an old fashioned garden in a small window box. Fill the box with a mixture of 2/3 potting soil and 1/3 fine sand for a good draining mixture – plants don’t like to be soggy!

Decide first of all where you would like to have some garden paths. Put down some small flat stones along the paths as stepping stones.

Then get some packets of fast sprouting seeds – wheat grass is pretty, along with mini marigolds – and plant them in the soil.

While you are waiting for the seeds to sprout, make an arbor out of cardboard, painting the slats on with ink. Make little benches, too. The crystal ball is made from a very small Christmas tree ornament glued on a tiny base of wood. Or perhaps you would rather have a cardboard sundial set on a large flat rock?
